SUNDAY PANELS

Here are a few of the panels from Sunday August 12th.

The first was about the Wild and Wacky Disney Animation through the years (Hosted by Animator and Director Eric Goldberg & Film critic Jerry Beck, with Billy Stanek of D23 as the Moderator). They talked about animators like Ward Kimball & Freddy Moore and went through their many contributions to wacky animated pieces through Disney's history.

(Alice in Wonderland)

(The Three Caballeros)

After a break, the next panel was an animation lesson with legendary animator Andreas Deja. (Animator of Scar, Jafar, Tigger, and Mickey Mouse among others...) He showed us original sketches from Walt Disney's Nine Old Men and told stories about them and how they perfected the animated drawing. He studied under a few of them, so there were many great recollections.

He then gave us some drawing lessons. The D23 people had given out sketch-books the day before to use during this panel, but they forgot to tell us to bring them back. There was hardly anyone that brought them the next day. (Including us) :(

Here are some shots of the Grand Ballroom during a break...

The panels after this were mostly of top secret stuff, so no video-taking or picture-snapping was allowed unfortunately... They showed us sneak peeks of future animated works. They first played "Tangled Ever After"...

...the hilarious sequel short to Tangled. Then they played the unreleased "Paperman"...

...and a bunch of sneak-peek/behind the scenes stuff for "Wreck-It Ralph"

Lastly, they showed concept art, behind the scenes, the revealing of a new character (hint: he's made of snow) and the revealing of a new song for the newest Disney animated feature... "Frozen"
