Well, looks like the Matterhorn will be closed for awhile starting Monday.
It is undergoing an extensive refurbishment and upgrade.
One of the upgrades is the look of the bobsleds. The above picture from 1959 shows how they looked when the attraction first opened, and the below picture from 2000 shows how they looked after the small redesign of doubling the bobsleds up to accommodate more guests.
The new bobsleds will have headrests and it is rumored that the attraction may possibly have a height requirement change. For the full story, see this article.
(I think that the new bobsleds look like they'll be more comfortable than the current ones.)
The Matterhorn will re-open on June 14th.

It does look better. The old bobsleds were so difficult to get into. These look a little higher and you don't feel like you are laying down. With a headrest I would feel more comfortable going on it again. Yeah!!
