MORE DESTINATION D

Here we go. The end. FINALLY!!!

Here's a picture I found on Facebook taken by Disney Legend Floyd Norman!

See anyone familiar? ;)

This was soon after I met him in person while we were waiting for the Alan Menken concert to begin.

He is a longtime animator at Disney. (To see what he worked on, check out his IMDB profile)

I also got to meet quite a few other people before the concert began.

Here is Richard M. Sherman. Half of the legendary songwriting duo "The Sherman Brothers". He and his brother Robert B. Sherman, who passed away in early 2012, worked personally under Walt Disney himself. If you don't know who they are, or what they've done, I highly suggest you check out their filmography on IMDB.

Our conversation was a quick one because there we're so many people vying for his attention, but I was able to shake his hand and I told him it was a pleasure to meet him. He said "Thank You"

I later tried to get my picture with him, but this was the best we could do... haha

Sitting next to Richard Sherman was legendary Imagineer Tony Baxter. He is the man responsible for many of Disneyland's most beloved attractions, such as Big Thunder, Splash Mountain, The Indiana Jones Adventure, the new Sleeeping Beauty castle walkthrough and also the 80's re-design of Fantasyland and the 90's re-design of Tomorrowland.

He is super cool and me and Greg actually ran into him as we were exiting Indiana Jones at Disneyland the day before! My jaw dropped when I saw him walking by! Haha!

Finally, it was time to sit down and wait for Alan Menken's performance to begin...

Though he really isn't the greatest singer, he truly is a great songwriter! He is known for many of Disney's modern animated films. Look him up too! haha!

The whole concert was basically a celebration of all things Alan Menken. He played selections from just about everything he's done. Disney or not.
He's written music for many Broadway musicals and the cool thing was that he played a song that he wrote for the musical "Smile" called "Disneyland", which we go to hear while sitting in the Disneyland Hotel!!!

The first songs he did for Disney were for "The Little Mermaid"...

...famous for "Part of Your World", "Under the Sea", "Kiss the Girl" and "Poor Unfortunate Souls" among others.

Another biggie was "Beauty and the Beast"...

...famous for "Be Our Guest", "Something There" and "Beauty and the Beast" among others.

From Aladdin, "A Whole New World", "Arabian Nights", "Friend Like Me" and "One Jump Ahead"

From Newsies, "Carrying the Banner", "Santa Fe", "The World Will Know" and "Seize the Day" among others...

From Pocahontas, "Just Around the Riverbend", "Mine, Mine, Mine" and "Colors of the Wind".

From Hercules, "The Gospel Truth", "Go the Distance", "Zero to Hero" and "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)" among others...

And finally, some selections from "Home on the Range"....

...and Tangled! ("Mother knows Best", "I've Got A Dream", and "I See the Light")

He played A LOT more songs from A LOT more films. These were just the highlights.

When it was all over, he came back out as an Encore because of all the applause. He played "If I never New You" from Pocahontas. He said Richard Sherman would've been after him if he forgot to play that.

Well, that's the end of the pictures (finally... haha) Hope you enjoyed them!
